How to Make Your Manicure Last Longer
There is nothing worse than getting a manicure only for a chip or crack to appear within days. At Fancy Legacy we ensure that all our nail treatments are as durable and long-lasting as possible. However, there are always useful pointers to consider that can help ensure that your manicure stands the test of time.
Some of the most popular tips that we practice and recommend for our Birmingham clients include:
- Use a cotton swab or bud to wipe your nails with vinegar before beginning the manicure treatment. At Fancy Legacy, all our therapists practice this tip and it certainly increases the life-span of your manicure.
- Don’t soak your nails before coming for a manicure. One of the biggest misconceptions that exists in the manicure business is that your nails need to be soaked before a manicure. Some manicurists do this to soften the cuticles on your nails, but all this does is cause your nails to retain water and expand. Once the manicure begins, your nails will shrink meaning that the polish will no longer fit your nails. To prevent this from happening, our therapists use cuticle oil instead of water.
- Apply two layers of base coat to the tips of your nails. While the bed of your nail sits undisturbed, the tip of your nail is going to be prone to chips and damage. Typing, texting even shaking hands can leave your manicure vulnerable. Applying a double-layer base coats solves this problem.
Manicures for Men
For many years, a manicure was a treat that was exclusively reserved for women. However, times have changed, and many Birmingham men are now also booking this enriching treatment. The fact of the matter is that men’s nails need the same care and attention as their female counterparts, so there is no reason why they shouldn’t receive the same care and attention as their wives, sisters or friends.
